Washington
Does Everything in a Big Way
Beautiful scenery.
Serious nightlife. Fun from the incredible sunrise to sunset—and
beyond. Washington, D.C. is our destination central for The AMS
Users’ Group 33rd National Conference. And a favorite of so many
people—for so many reasons.
Washington does
everything in a big way. If you’ve never been—or haven’t been
in a while—you’ll be amazed by what you see. We’re talking world-class
hotels, five-star restaurants and all the creature comforts you
could want.
The National Harbor,
home to the beautiful Gaylord National Resort & Convention
Center, brings a new level of entertainment to the Washington
area. From the nightly waterfront light show to seasonal concerts,
National Harbor offers spectacular and elaborate ways to be entertained.
You'll also find yourself pausing to enjoy performers and musicians
that keep the energy alive on the streets of National Harbor both
day and night.
In addition to dining
and shopping, you'll find dancing, a comedy club, bowling, billiards
and live music. The Gaylord National is also home to a special
nightclub, Pose
Ultra Lounge, atop the hotel, providing sweeping views of
Washington, D.C. and Virginia.
Old Town in Alexandria
is across the harbor, a brief 30 minute water taxi ride away and
home to over 55 restaurants.
The Tantallon Country
Club - Preferred Golf Course of Gaylord National is named for
a 14th-century castle in the North of Scotland, this impressive
Ted Robinson-designed course—in fact, his only east-coast design—elegantly
achieves the architect’s three main objectives: flexibility, memorability
and natural beauty. Test your skills on the par-3, Hole 15, with
its three-tiered green, then take in an inspiring view of the
Washington Monument from Number 16. Open daily from 8:00 am to
dusk. Green Fees are $75 per person and includes the golf cart
and unlimited range balls. Mention The AMS Users’ Group National
Conference at Gaylord to receive a discount. To schedule your
tee time, please contact Michael Schulz, at (301) 292-1100 ext.
102.
We look forward
to seeing you there!

VIETNAM
VETERANS MEMORIAL
Deliberately setting aside the controversies of the war, the Vietnam
Veterans Memorial honors the men and women who served when their
Nation called upon them. The designer, Maya Lin, felt that “the
politics had eclipsed the veterans, their service and their lives.”
She kept the design elegantly simple to “allow everyone to respond
and remember.”
The public may visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial 24 hours a
day. However Rangers are on duty to answer questions from 9:30
a.m. to 11:30 p.m. daily.
WORLD WAR II MEMORIAL
Honoring the 16 million who served in the armed forces of the
U.S., the more than 400,000 who died and all who supported the
war effort from home. Symbolic of the defining event of the 20th
Century, the memorial is a monument to the spirit, sacrifice and
commitment of the American people. The Second World War is the
only 20th Century event commemorated on the National Mall’s central
axis. It is located on 17th Street, between Constitution and Independence
Avenues, and is flanked by the Washington Monument to the east
and the Lincoln Memorial to the west. Open to visitors 24 hours
a day, seven days a week.
